ðŸŒŋ Light
Gardenias love bright, indirect light. Place them near a south- or east-facing window indoors, or in a sheltered spot with morning sun outdoors. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun which can scorch the leaves.

💧 Water
Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water with lukewarm, ideally soft or rainwater — Gardenias are sensitive to hard water and fluoride. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

ðŸŒą Soil & Feeding
To achieve a thriving, plant with lots of flowers, feed with an ericaceous (acid-loving plant) fertiliser every two to four weeks during the growing season (spring to summer).  If you need to repot your Gardenia, plant in ericaceous compost. ✂ïļ Deadheading & Pruning
Remove spent blooms promptly to encourage further flowering. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and remove any dead or crossing stems. Avoid heavy pruning as this can reduce next season's blooms.

ðŸŠī If It's in a Pot
Use ericaceous potting compost and ensure the pot has good drainage holes. Gardenias do well as houseplants in pots — maintain humidity by misting the leaves or placing the pot on a tray of damp pebbles. Re-pot every two years to refresh the compost.

❄ïļ Winter Care
Gardenias are not fully hardy in the UK and prefer temperatures above 10°C. Bring potted plants indoors before the first frosts and keep in a bright, cool room. Avoid placing near radiators or draughts, which can cause bud drop.
