Anthuriums make stunning houseplants, loved for their glossy, heart-shaped leaves and long-lasting waxy blooms in shades of red, pink, and white.

With a little care, your Anthurium will reward you with beautiful flowers almost year-round.

Anthurium Care Guide

🌿 Light
Place your Anthurium in a bright spot with indirect light. It will tolerate lower light but produces more blooms in brighter conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

💧 Water
Water thoroughly when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, then allow excess water to drain away. Anthuriums dislike sitting in water, so always empty the saucer after watering. Reduce watering slightly in winter.

💦 Humidity
As a tropical plant, Anthuriums love humidity. Mist the leaves occasionally, place on a pebble tray with water, or keep near other houseplants to boost moisture in the air.

🌱 Feeding
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth and vibrant blooms. No feeding is needed in autumn and winter.

🌸 Flowers
Each bloom can last for several weeks. Once a flower fades, snip it off at the base to encourage the plant to produce new ones. With good light and regular feeding, your Anthurium can flower almost continuously.

🪴 Repotting
Repot every 2–3 years in spring when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one and use a well-draining, peat-free compost mixed with perlite.
